Community Garden
Our Community Garden applications are now open! To apply, please complete this online Application Form.
Glenwood Community Centre is proud to continue to offer our raised garden beds to our community again this year. We currently offer 13 raised garden beds which are 8' x 3' in size. Each raised garden will be assigned on a first come-first served basis. Interested gardeners who do not receive a raised garden bed will be maintained on a wait list. Raised garden beds are non-transferable.
Although there is no fee to use the garden, we will require a $20 garden shed key deposit at the time of acceptance of the garden bed. This fee will be refunded to you at the end of the gardening season and once the key has been returned to our General Manager, Coralie.
We will notify individuals of acceptance of their applications as applications come in. Once your application has been approved and your $20 key shed deposit has been received, we will make arrangements for you to come in to sign the Community Garden Contract in April. The Contract will contain your plot name and you will receive your key at that time.
A condition of use of the Community Garden is that you attend to your garden at all times which includes weeding, watering and picking vegetables once they are ready. Failure to do so may result in your ability to secure a bed the following year.
If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jaimie at assistantglenwoodcc@gmail.com.
OUR COMMUNITY GARDEN
Our Community Garden is a vibrant and welcoming space where neighbours come together to grow, learn, and connect. Each year, local gardeners of all experience levels enjoy planting and tending their plots, sharing the joy of fresh produce, colourful flowers, and friendly conversation.
This season, we were excited to add a new bench and decorative foot stones, creating an even more inviting spot to relax, reflect, and enjoy the beauty of the garden. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this space thrive throughout the growing season!
The garden is now closed for the season, as we prepare for a well-earned winter rest. Applications for next year’s plots will be available March 1st, so stay tuned for updates and join us when the garden blooms again in spring!
We are proud to be honor the following community members and have named our garden beds after each of them:
Shelley Waddell Bob Brown
Phyllis Cook Joan MacDonald
Patty VadeBonCoeur Dan Nicholson
Rhonda Cook Peter Elwick
Jackie Bergman Brian Mayes
Colleen & Peter Champagne Marcel Lemire
Jeff Fawley
